Short answer: a good replica of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V gets the case silhouette, the bracelet and the blue dial close enough that most people across a table will not question it. It gives itself away at the movement, the date wheel and the bracelet release. Buy it for the outside. Do not buy it expecting the inside.
The 4500V is the steel Overseas that ran from 2016 until the 4520V replaced it in 2022, and it is the one most people mean when they say the Overseas with the blue dial. The references are mostly dial codes: 4500V/110A-B128 for blue, B126 for silver, and a few others. The case is 41mm, about 11mm thick, water resistant to 150m, and it runs the in-house calibre 5100 with a 60 hour reserve. It also has the feature that sold the whole line: a bracelet, a rubber strap and a leather strap that swap without tools.
What the reps get right
The bezel is the hard part and most decent reps handle it. It is a notched ring that reads as a Maltese cross when you take in the whole case, and the better builds cut clean inner corners instead of soft rounded ones. The bracelet is the other win. The half cross links, the mix of brushed and polished surfaces, and the way the end links meet the case are all close. Weight is right too, since the case and bracelet are steel. Names that come up most in the steel 4500V conversation are MKS and TWF, though stock rotates fast and the same factory can ship two different builds a year apart.
Where they fall short
Dial and hands
Blue is the hardest color to copy and the one everyone wants. Genuine blue has depth: it goes nearly black at the edges and lights up in the middle under direct sun. Cheap reps push purple or electric blue and look flat indoors. I look at the sunray texture first, then the date window. Genuine printing is crisp and the aperture edges are square. The strap change system
Genuine 4500V straps release with a push on a small mechanism at the lugs. Plenty of reps use ordinary spring bars and ship with aftermarket straps that need a tool. It works, but it is not the same thing, and the difference shows the moment someone asks you to swap a strap.
Movements you will find inside
Most reps in this reference use a Miyota 9015 or a decorated Asian automatic with a gold tone rotor. The 9015 is the safer pick. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it is thin, and any watchmaker can service it. Some sellers advertise a clone 5100, which is usually a decorated base movement rather than a true copy. Ask what is inside before you pay. It changes the thickness, the service cost and the sound of the rotor.
What to ask before buying

- Case thickness in millimeters, measured at the crystal
- Which movement, and whether it is a 9015 base
- Whether the bracelet uses screws or pins
- A video of the date flipping at midnight
- Weight on the bracelet, in grams
- Water resistance claim, and whether it was actually tested
When it lands
Check the end links for wobble, then the clasp for alignment. Wind it slowly and listen for grit. Set the date past midnight and watch it snap rather than crawl. Check the crown action, because a stiff crown usually means a dry gasket. Treat any water resistance claim as marketing. A rep 4500V is a desk watch. Do not swim in it, and do not take it in the shower.
Is it worth it
If you want the Overseas look and you are realistic about what you are buying, the better 4500V reps are strong value, mainly because the bracelet carries the whole design and the reps copy the bracelet well. If you want the movement, the finishing and the feel of a real 5100, no replica gets there, and the price gap is the reason. Know which of those two you are shopping for and you will be happy with the result.
