A replica Rolex Daytona is a watch made by a third-party factory to look like the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. Rolex does not make it, sell it, or service it. The genuine Daytona is a 40 mm automatic chronograph. Steel models use the caliber 4130 movement, a 72-hour power reserve, a Cerachrom ceramic bezel, and a 100-meter water resistance rating. Replicas copy the case shape, dial layout, and bracelet. They do not copy the movement, the metallurgy, or the manufacturing tolerance. The gap shows up in weight, in chronograph function, and in service life.

Price tiers and what changes
- Entry tier, about $80 to $200: 316L stainless steel case, mineral or low-grade sapphire crystal, printed dial, ST19 or quartz movement.
- Mid tier, about $200 to $450: sapphire crystal, better dial printing, 7750 clone, working pushers.
- Super clone tier, about $450 to $900: 904L steel claims, cloned 4130, closer case finishing, ceramic bezel insert.
Tier labels come from sellers, not from a standards body. Two watches from the same tier can differ in movement and finish.
Common tells on the wrist
Points to check:
- Subdial spacing. The genuine 4130 places the three subdials close to the center.
- Pusher action. Genuine screw-down pushers seal against water. Cheap copies strip threads.
- Weight. Gold replicas weigh less than solid gold. Plated cases run light.
- No date window. The Daytona has no date. Any date at 3 o'clock is wrong.
