Short answer

The replica IW327010 copies the IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Le Petit Prince. The genuine watch is a 40 mm steel pilot watch with a blue dial, a soft-iron antimagnetic inner case, and calibre 35111. Replica versions sell from about $80 to $600. The crystal, the movement, the dial print, and the caseback engraving set the price.

Replica tiers

Three tiers appear in the market.

  1. Entry, $80 to $180: mineral glass, 21,600 vph movement, stamped caseback.
  2. Mid, $200 to $350: sapphire crystal, 2892 clone or Miyota 9015, closer dial print.
  3. Top, $380 to $600: sapphire with AR coating, decorated 2892, engraved caseback with the prince figure.

Batch specs change. A listing from last year may not match current stock. Ask for photos of the watch in hand.

Movement options

Four movements turn up in IW327010 replicas:

  • Asia 2892, also sold as Seagull ST1812. 28,800 vph, about 40 hours of reserve, hacking, hand winding.
  • Miyota 9015. 28,800 vph, 42 hours of reserve, made in Japan.
  • Asia 2824. Thicker, 38 hours of reserve, lower cost.
  • Decorated 2892 with an IWC-style rotor. Sold as the top tier.

None of these match calibre 35111. The genuine 35111 is a Sellita SW300-1 base with an IWC rotor and IWC finishing.

Details that set the tier

  • Case: 40 mm wide and 11 mm thick on the genuine watch. Copies run 11.5 mm to 13 mm thick.
  • Lug width: 20 mm. Straps cut for 21 mm or 22 mm will not fit.
  • Dial: the Mark XVIII has a triangle index at 12. A numeral 12 means the dial is wrong.
  • Date: window at 3 o'clock. Check the disc color against the dial color.
  • Caseback: solid steel on the genuine watch, engraved with the prince on his asteroid. Cheap tiers use a flat laser etch.
  • Crystal: sapphire on mid and top tiers, mineral glass on entry tiers. Ask for the material in writing.
  • Water resistance: the genuine watch is rated to 6 bar. Replicas are not pressure tested. Do not swim with one.

Checks on arrival

  1. Measure case width and thickness with calipers.
  2. Wind and set the watch. The crown should hack the seconds.
  3. Look for dust and hair under the crystal.
  4. Time it for 24 hours against a reference clock.
  5. Check strap stitching, buckle fit, and spring bar seating.

A 2892 clone or a 9015 should hold within 15 seconds a day after regulation. Send it back if it drifts past 30 seconds a day.

FAQ

Does the replica have the soft-iron inner case?

Most do not. I cannot confirm any batch that does. Treat magnetic resistance as absent.

Is the size the same as the real watch?

Width matches at 40 mm on most builds. Thickness does not.

Can a watchmaker service it?

Shops that work on ETA 2892 or Miyota movements can service these. Some shops decline replica work.

What does a fair price look like?

$200 to $350 buys sapphire glass, a 2892 clone or a 9015, and a case within 1 mm of the genuine profile. Above $400 you pay for dial print and caseback detail.
