A fake Villeret tourbillon is a watch sold as a Blancpain Villeret Tourbillon that Blancpain did not make. Genuine Villeret tourbillons sell for six figures. Copies sell for $150 to $1,200. Most copies use a Chinese tourbillon movement, so the cage does turn. A turning cage is not proof of a Blancpain.
What the genuine watch is
Blancpain dates to 1735 in Villeret, Switzerland. The Villeret line is the brand's round dress line. Tourbillon references include the Tourbillon Volant Une Minute and the Carrousel Volant Une Minute. The cage sits on one side only. Watchmakers call this a flying tourbillon. There is no upper bridge across the cage.
Cases come in 950 platinum and 18k red gold. Several references use twin barrels and power reserves measured in days, not hours. Balance frequency is 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour. Hand finishing covers the bridges: bevels, interior angles, and black polish on steel parts.
Price is the first filter
Dealers list platinum Villeret tourbillons in the $120,000 to $180,000 range. Auction results for used pieces land lower, in the tens of thousands. No new Villeret tourbillon sells for $900. A listing under $5,000 is a copy or a different watch with a tourbillon-shaped aperture.

Movement checks
Replica tourbillons use Seagull ST8000, ST8007, or Hangzhou 2189 movements. These are real tourbillons built in China. They cost a few hundred dollars wholesale. Beat rate is 3 Hz, or 21,600 vph, on most of them. Blancpain runs at 4 Hz. A timegrapher shows the difference in seconds.
Look at the cage under 10x magnification. Chinese cages carry machined surfaces and rounded edges. Blancpain cages carry drawn-out bevels and polished screw heads. Serial numbers on copies repeat across listings.
Case, dial, and weight
A 42 mm platinum case weighs about 130 g on the head. A steel case weighs about 85 g. Copies use 316L steel with plating, so the weight shows on a kitchen scale. Genuine sapphire carries anti-reflective coating on both faces. Copy crystals show a blue or purple cast.
Indices on the genuine dial are applied in gold. Copies use plated brass or printed markers. Dial text under a loupe shows clean edges on the genuine piece. Copies show ink spread and wrong font weight.
Papers and authentication
Blancpain does not verify watches by photo. A service center inspects the movement. Papers, box, and warranty card follow the reference. A copy does not match the reference number on the caseback to the movement inside.
What the "super clone" tier is
A $400 to $1,200 Chinese tourbillon in a Villeret-style case. It keeps time. It is not a Blancpain and it holds no resale value against the brand. Sellers who label it genuine commit trademark counterfeiting under US law, 18 U.S.C. 2320.
