Cartier does not make a watch called the Pasha Must de Cartier. The Pasha de Cartier line started in 1985 with a design by Gérald Genta. The Must de Cartier name covered Cartier's entry line from 1973 into the 1990s, and it went on Tank, Santos and Vendôme models. No Pasha carried the Must name. A listing that uses both names is a replica, a mislabeled watch, or a name written for search traffic.
What the Real Pasha de Cartier Has
Genta drew the Pasha in 1985. He also drew the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus. The case is round. A square track sits inside the dial, with Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9. The crown screws under a hinged cap. A small chain ties the cap to the case. The cabochon is blue.
The current range lists 35 mm and 41 mm models plus a chronograph. The 41 mm automatic runs the Cartier 1847 MC, a 23-jewel movement at 28,800 vph with a power reserve near 40 hours. Cartier lists steel models near $7,000 and gold models above $20,000. The 2020 relaunch added QuickSwitch straps and SmartLink bracelets, which resize by hand with no tools.
Checks for a Fake Pasha de Cartier
- Crown and chain. Real chain links are fine and short. Fakes use thick links, a long chain, or a cap fixed to the case.
- Cabochon. Cartier sets a faceted blue stone. Fakes use smooth glass or plastic in the wrong blue. Look for an off-center setting.
- Dial track. The square must sit square in the round dial. Corners point at the four numerals. Fakes show a rotated square and rail spacing that changes width.
- Case back. The 41 mm has a sapphire back and shows the 1847 MC. Fakes use a Miyota 9015, a Seagull, or a decorated clone. Rotor engraving is shallow and the font is wrong.
- Bracelet. Real SmartLink links release with a push button at the side. Fakes use screws or friction pins.
- Glass. Real crystals are sapphire with anti-reflective coating. Mineral glass shows a blue or purple tint and scratches at the edge.
- Numbers. Case back reference and serial engraving is deep and even on a real watch. Fakes laser-etch a shallow number, and the digits do not match between the case and the papers.
Price Range for Pasha Copies
Pasha replicas sell from about $200 to $700, and the top tier uses a Swiss ETA or a clone 1847. Fewer factories build the Pasha than the Santos or the Tank, so supply is thin and quality shifts by batch. A Pasha under $100 is a quartz watch with a glued crown cap in most cases.
Legal Note
Selling a counterfeit watch is a federal crime in the United States under 18 U.S.C. § 2320. U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizes counterfeit shipments and destroys them. A buyer can lose the money with no route to a refund.
Verify Before You Buy
Ask for the reference number and serial, then check both with a Cartier boutique or a watchmaker who services Cartier. A service center can open the case and confirm the movement. Boxes and papers are easy to copy, so a receipt from an authorized dealer carries more weight than a full set. For private sales, meet at a watchmaker and pay after the case back comes off.
