Short answer
IW95315 is not an IWC reference number. IWC writes references as IW plus four to six digits, and the leading digits map to a watch family. Known blocks include 3716 (Portugieser Chronograph), 3881 (Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41), 5007 (Portugieser Automatic 42) and 3565 (Portofino Automatic 40). No published IWC reference starts with 95.
The code also does not match an IWC calibre. IWC movements carry numbers such as 32111, 69370 and 82200. None of them read 95315. A listing that uses IW95315 as a model number is using an identifier the brand never issued.
Where the code can come from
Three sources are common. None is confirmed for this exact string.
- Seller SKUs. Marketplaces and auction houses assign internal item numbers that look like references.
- Factory sheet codes. Replica case and dial batches get short codes that get copied into product titles.
- Typing errors. Digits move. IW3716 can become IW95315 after a copy and paste across listings.
How to check any IWC reference
- Read the caseback. IWC engraves the full reference there, for example IW388101.
- Compare the number with the IWC product list. A real reference appears in the brand catalog or in the archive.
- Check the format. A valid number is IW plus four to six digits.
- Look at the movement. IWC engraves the calibre number on the rotor or a bridge.
- Ignore weight and box. Fake boxes and papers ship with replica watches, so packaging proves nothing.
US law
Trafficking in counterfeit goods is a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. 2320. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $2 million for an individual. U.S. Customs and Border Protection can seize and destroy shipments of counterfeit watches at the border.
What to do with a listing that shows IW95315
Ask the seller for a caseback photo and the calibre number. If no number in the listing matches an IWC catalog reference, treat the watch as a replica. Some sellers use this label for a super clone IWC with a copied dial and case. The dial print, the crown logo and the caseback text are the parts that fail close inspection.
